Working for the Tara Ocean Foundation since 2015 led me to embark aboard the schooner multiple times, exploring remote and stunning corners of the planet. During the latest expedition, Tara Microbiomes (2020-2022), I spent almost seven months on board, participating in different legs, including Patagonia, Amazonia, Antarctica, and West Africa. My role included capturing videos for social media and telling the story of the science and life onboard in order to share the main goals of this scientific expedition with the general public.

SYNOPSIS: Filmed onboard a 70-foot ocean racing yacht miles closer to the International Space Station than to land, Maéva Bardy, onboard cinematographer for the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race, faces phenomenal sea-states, hurricane conditions as well as extremes of heat and cold in pursuit of her documentary. This insightful behind-the-scenes story captures both the exhilaration and exhaustion experienced by the Race Crew in The Race of Their Lives.

As the onboard reporter, I documented the memorable moments and challenges on the Clipper-round-the-world-yatch-race for an award-winning documentary called “THE RACE OF THEIR LIVES”, a 7-part television series (7x52min) produced by 1080 MEDIA TV Production company, based in London. Broadcast worldwide (SKY Sports, FOX Sports, NAUTICAL Channel, etc), the documentary showcases the incredible achievements of the Clipper 2017/18 Round the World Yacht Race crew.
After each leg, I was in charge of the wrap-up video editing. Leg 6 of the Clipper edition 2017/18 race remains one of the most unforgettable experiences: as we were in the middle of the Pacific, we navigated through a hurricane!
The awe-inspiring video of the Clipper 2019/20 Race, edited by 1080 MEDIA TV, has been shortlisted for a Sportel Awards 2020 and Mirabaud Sailing Video Awards. ‘Ocean Emotions’ captures the majesty of the sea and the tough conditions Clipper Race Crew faces as the fleet circumnavigates the globe.

TRAVEL MEDIA AWARD-WINNING TV SERIES
Working for the London-based company 1080 MEDIA TV production led me to work worldwide for some international TV series. As a camera operator, I filmed “EARTH CYCLE,” a 5-part travel documentary TV series (5×25 min).
SYNOPSIS: “EARTH CYCLE” is a study of flora, fauna, and people, set around the epic cycling journey of Simon Parker (journalist and travel writer for the Telegraph and BBC).

A 52-MINUTE FILM
SYNOPSIS: a bunch of bikers called the “Foggs” experience a 22,000km journey from Bangkok to Paris. A “long way home”, along with one of the most beautiful transcontinental roads on the planet. It is a rich and strong human story about ordinary people who achieve something remarkable and change their eyes on how they see the world far from their comfort zone.

The 52-minute movie “Le voyage extraordinaire des Foggs” (see above) was edited with all the footage I got from the 3-month transcontinental motorcycle trip through Asia and Europe. We traveled through cultures, civilizations, and stunning landscapes from Bangkok to Paris. With a rhythm of 400 km per day on average, my role was to capture the essential times of this journey and to edit every week a 3-minute wrap-up video for social media.

A 78-MINUTE FILM
I joined the France-Japon road trip organized by T3 Aventures from Turkey to Kyrgyzstan as a camerawoman. My images have been assembled into a three-part film (3x26min) that retraces this long, epic journey full of twists and turns.
SYNOPSIS: In the summer of 2021, despite the COVID pandemic, a group of bikers intent on crossing Europe and Asia with their maxi trail from Paris to the Sea of Japan. This road, strewn with pitfalls, will test their determination.
